It was a great night. The food was great, ah gua comedians who were really funny, great performances, very fun crowd
A video montage was played, showing the training we went throught and the funny things that happened. Some of us got quite emo after watching the video. The coolest part of the video was Wei Lun saying how much he love his GF while holding his rifle during Ex. Scorpion King. I think his GF must had been really touched after watching it.
Really enjoyed myself that night
Tango Wing, Platoon 2, Section 1 (50%). These are the people I went through thick and thin with during service term.
From Left: LTA Ivan (our section instructor), Boh Wei (bunk mate), Ronald, Jia Junn, Wei Lun and me.
I’ll update this post with more pics

Just had my lunch at NP (Ngee Ann Polytechnic) with KS and Sam. Going back to NP brings back lots of campus memories. I had quite a heavy lunch – Chicken Teriyaki Bento and a bowl of peanut ice kacang
. Sam drove us back after that.
I knew that I have alot of things to do after lunch. Most of the stuff I do is mentally taxing (design, planning, coding etc.) and I tend to feel groggy after meals. With my bed beside me, I feel tempted to take an afternoon nap before getting back to work. But I knew that it will be harder to pull myself back to my desk after napping.
To dive in and start working on my project right away feels overwhelming and requires alot of determination. Switching my mind from relaxation to serious work takes time.
I know a trick (a life hack, or whatever you call it) to get myself back to work without feeling too stressed or overwhelmed, something I call the “warm-up”. Instead of continuing my work from where I left of before lunch, I would get started with small and easy bits of work. The work I do for the next 10 to 15 minutes might seem insignificant, but it is still better than procrastinating. The reason why it is so important to just get started is because everything gets easier when I’m in motion, momentum and tempo would slowly build up and I’ll be working on the main bulk of work in no time.
This method also works well when I’m feeling very tired and unmotivated.

Heres my new design for the coming new year. I want to do something different this year. I want to create something that feels more personal, a design that reflects my desire to be more organized in 2009. Therefore, my theme for next year’s design is “organization”.
This design consists of a multi-pocket folder (tabs) placed on a table and a piece of paper (page’s content). Each individual blog post is represented by an index card. Each index card is taped neatly on the piece of paper, this exudes a sense of neatness and organization.
I tend to use very little colours in my design, which makes my design look dull after some time. Therefore, I decided to use more colours this time. I’m bad with colours, but after spending some time experimenting with different colours, I think I got the right combination
. The wooden table texture on the background gives a warm feeling and makes the entire design more personal.
The index card’s width will not be fixed. I will code it in a way such that it will expand and contract depending on the user’s screen. This creates more space for the content and improves readibility. I care about readibility because I think I will be writing alot more in future. Many designers tend to leave very little space for their main content area, which is something I always try not to do. Content should always have priority over design.
Right now, everything is still in Photoshop. This design will be quite difficult to code, but I will still try to get it done as soon as possible, hopefully tomorrow.

5 days Leave
Just came back yesterday from probably the most tiring outfield training I’ve ever had (Ex. Scorpion King). I have 5 days leave till next wednesday, so I’ll probably be slacking for quite some time. I’m planning to spend my day re-designing my blog. I can’t think of any nice ideas to work on now, so I might as well spend the time working on my design skills
Jacinda’s House
Jacinda just showed me her house in US via webcam. Its my dream house la – Jacuzzi, sauna, swimming pool and pool tables.. no wonder shes so happy down there. lol
these are the pics she sent me…
